Overview

Our mission is to be a leader in business administration, economics, finance, and informatics research and ed-ucation, achieving excellence while fostering international competitiveness and responsibility in business and society. Our mission is built on four pillars: excellence in research, learning at the frontier of knowledge, international competitiveness, and responsibility in business and society. Excellence in research: We are the leading business and economics faculty in Switzerland and rank among the best in Europe. With four academic departments under one roof—business administration, economics, finance, and informatics—we conduct interdisciplinary research and aim for groundbreaking discoveries. Our research has received the highest international recognition for its innovation and impact; in some areas, we belong to the very best in the world. Learning at the frontier of knowledge: We provide research-oriented and method-based education at all lev-els. Our students learn the latest concepts and developments in their fields of study, master methodological skills, and apply their knowledge in a competent and ethically reflective manner. We use contemporary and digital forms of teaching to adapt to students’ needs and ensure their learning success. Encouraging, promot-ing, and cultivating an attitude of lifelong learning is an important policy at our Faculty. International competitiveness: We appoint outstanding and internationally recognized scholars as faculty members and attract the best Swiss and international students to our programmes. We create an internation-ally competitive supporting environment for faculty, staff, and students. Our alumni make significant contribu-tions to local and global business, politics, and research. They can compete with graduates from the world's leading universities. Responsibility in business and society: As part of a public university, our goal is to serve the people. In busi-ness and society, we are recognized for our research expertise and contribution to educating the next genera-tion. We maintain strong partnerships with regional businesses and communities across public and private sec-tors. We train our students to reflect on their role in a global economy and make responsible decisions by con-sidering the economic, societal, and ecological consequences of their actions. We are committed to sustaina-bility and strive to have a positive impact on the world.
